Refinishing
How do I know if my hardwood floor needs refinishing?
Signs include gray or bare wood showing through, deep scratches you can feel, water stains, and areas where the finish has worn off in walkways. If the floor is just dull with light surface scratches, a screen & recoat or deep clean & polish may be the better, lower-cost option.
What happens during a full sand & refinish?
The old finish and the top layer of worn wood are sanded away down to bare wood, and the floor is then sealed with a fresh finish. This removes deep scratches and stains and gives the floor an even, like-new appearance.
How long does hardwood floor refinishing take?
It depends on the size of the area, the condition of the floor and the finish used. We give you a timeline — including when you can walk on the floor and move furniture back — together with your quote.
Screen & Recoat
What is the difference between a refinish and a screen & recoat?
A full sand & refinish removes the old finish down to bare wood, fixing deep scratches, stains and worn-through areas. A screen & recoat only lightly scuffs the existing finish and adds a new topcoat — it refreshes dull floors but won’t remove deep damage.
How often should hardwood floors be recoated?
Many floors benefit from a screen & recoat every few years, depending on foot traffic, pets and how the floor is cared for. Recoating before the finish wears through can help you avoid a full refinish later.
Repairs
Can damaged hardwood boards be repaired without redoing the whole floor?
Often, yes. Hardwood floor repair can fix or replace damaged, cracked or water-affected boards in a specific area. Depending on the finish and age of the floor, the repaired area may need refinishing to blend in — we’ll explain the options when we see the floor.
Do you repair leather and vinyl furniture?
Yes. Besides floors, we repair leather and vinyl surfaces — including tears, scuffs, cracks and worn spots. Call or send a photo with your quote request so we can tell you what’s possible.
LVT / LVP
Can luxury vinyl plank (LVP) floors be deep cleaned?
Yes. Our LVT/LVP deep clean & polish removes dirt built up in the textured surface and seams that regular mopping leaves behind, then polishes the floor for a clean, even appearance.
Do you refinish vinyl plank floors?
For LVT/LVP floors we offer deep cleaning and polishing. Sanding and refinishing apply to real hardwood floors.
